Printz Award Announced!

The Michael L. Printz Award is an award for a book that exemplifies literary excellence in young adult literature. It's like the Oscars of Teen Books.


This year's winner is Where Things Come Back by John Corey Whaley.


The Printz Committee also names Honor books (ie. the runner-ups).  This year they are:


All these book, along with past winner and honor books are on display now in the Teen Corner.  Get them while they last!

Teens' Top Ten

Teens' Top Ten is a "teen choice" list, where teens nominate and choose their favorite books of the previous year! Nominators are members of teen book groups in sixteen school and public libraries around the country. Nominations are posted on the American Library Association website and teens across the country vote on their favorite titles each year. Readers ages twelve to eighteen will vote online between Aug. 15 and Sept. 16.  This year, 9,000 votes were received and the winners are:

  3. Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick 
  4. I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore
  5. The Iron King by Julie Kagawa

The Staff of the Children’s  Library,  along with all our 2011 Summer Reading Club participants would like to extend a HUMONGOUS  THANK YOU  to all the Teen Volunteers  that helped to make our Multicultural Closing Celebration held on Wednesday August  17th such a huge success!!!
