Our June Tween Reads book selection is The Teacher's Funeral: A Comedy in Three Parts by Richard Peck. In rural Indiana in 1904, fifteen-year-old Russell's dreams of quitting school and joining a wheat threshing crew are disrupted when his older sister takes over the teaching at his one-room schoolhouse after mean old Myrt Arbuckle "hauls off and dies."
participants will engage in a lively discussion and entertaining activity while enjoying a tasky snack.

Stop into the Children’s Library beginning on Saturday, June 14 to sign-up. Each child will receive a reading log to keep track of their reading. Sign-ups continue until Saturday, August 2.
Here's how the tween level works:
For every 15 minutes of reading, students will cross out a picture on their log. When they have read for 10 hours, it’s time to pick up a reward. When they have finished another 10 hours of reading, it's time to pick up another reward. Upon completing the last 10 hours of reading students will receive a raffle ticket which will enter them into a raffle for a gift certificate from The Bookworm in Bernardsville. Students must be entering grades 5 or 6 to participate in the tweens level.
