How Do I? - Register for a Library Card?

Residents of Bernards Township are eligible for a Library card.  Please visit Adult Circulation and bring proof of residency, for example, current driver’s license, utility bill, or lease.

Children age 12 and under can apply for a Library card in the Children’s Department.  The parent/guardian must have a Library card in good standing, and be present when the child applies for the card.   Ages 13 and up register for a Library card at Adult Circulation.

Non-residents from these municipalities with a library card in good standing are welcome to use those library cards here at the Bernards Township Library.  To register, visit Adult Circulation with your library card and identification.

Non-resident students attending a school located in Bernards Township, but do not have a Library card from any of the municipalities listed above, can register for a Library card.  Please visit Adult Circulation with proof of school attendance, for example, report card, tuition bill, or current student ID, to register for a temporary Library card.

Non-residents working in Bernards Township, but do not have a library card from any of the municipalities listed above, can register for a Library card.  Please visit Adult Circulation with proof of working in the Township, e.g., current business ID or recent paystub, to register for a courtesy Library card.

Temporary residents of Bernards Township living at the Veterans Administration in Lyons can register for a Library card.  Please visit the Library Adult Circulation desk with one of the VA employees to register for a temporary Library card.

Temporary residents of Bernards Township working for a resident family as an au pair can register for a Library card.  Please visit Adult Circulation with your host family, or, a bring a letter signed by the agency or host family to register for a temporary courtesy Library card.
